Probably 30 or 40 years ago XXXL were known to shoppers as big and tall mens clothing. Things are not the same, if you’re a guy and wear an XL, then you’re most likely considered as Big and Tall. This is because clothing designers have started designing clothes for smaller people and using smaller size labels on clothes that are bigger than they were used on years ago. This runs rampant in womens clothing but has affected the mens clothing industry as well. The good news is that this means more stores than ever before are featuring sections for big and tall mens clothing. Here is how to shop for the clothing you need and get the best deals possible.
It’s always best to actually try on the clothes before buying and leaving. You really cannot trust the labels because the sizes are not standard, plus there could be differences with how the material was cut. What this causes is clothes labeled the same size will be very loose, and others will be very tight when you try them on. No one likes that sinking feeling when you get home, try something on (the first time), and realize it doesn’t fit – and you’re looking at a trip back to the store. So just trying on first, in the first place, may save you a return trip plus getting annoyed about it later. As you know, when shopping for clothes you’ll be trying on a lot of things, so wear loosely fitted pants and easy to get on/off shoes to cut down on time. What used to be considered ‘big and tall’ a decade ago no longer exists, especially when retailers learned that fashion can be made to suit everyone, no matter what size. People’s concept of fashion is contantly changing. The ‘big and tall’ label may actually fade into the history books as more and more people learn to embrace their own bodies and be proud to shop for clothing that fits well and looks great.
